The story follows the double life of Juliana Soler, a 22-year-old girl of humble beginnings and not-so-attractive physique who was convinced that being alone was her destiny and that love was something she would never know. Her mother, Regina, a former model obsessed with beauty, has always made her feel like the ugly duckling. Fortunately, Juliana has the unconditional support of her aunt Mercedes and the enchantment of her magic mirror, which transforms Juliana into the beautiful Maritza Ferrer. However, the mirror's enchantment comes with strings attached: Juliana can be beautiful only during the day. When night falls, she returns to her normal appearance. As you might expect, the leading lady has an unknown and loaded father who ends up becoming her boss.

Gabriel Mutti is the owner of Mutti Enterprises, an international cosmetics corporation where Maritza is hired as a chemist. There she meets Marcos Mutti, Gabriel's adopted son, with whom she falls in love.

Maritza's beauty inspires envy. She must fend off the traps and tricks that await her at the company, most of them plotted by Barbara Montesinos, Gabriel's second wife, who will weave a tangled, dark web of self-interest as she works to appropriate her husband's fortune. She will also have to protect herself from the hatred she awakens in Xiomara, Marcos' girlfriend, since Maritza will become her rival after Marcos falls for her beauty.

Juliana is mixed up in the two worlds, but chaos ensues when her magic mirror breaks, and with it the effects of the enchantment.
